Green Detox Juices

Over the past few years in India, juicing has morphed from an exclusive trend in the healthy living community into a natural obsession. These days, everyone's talking about juice cleanses, green juices and cold-pressed juices. Green juice is everywhere, and it’s become so synonymous with health that many people think they’re doing something wrong if they’re NOT gulping it down each day.

Green juices are a great way to get in your recommended servings of fresh produce, especially if you have a hard time fitting in loads of broccoli, kale, collards, or cucumbers in your everyday diet. Most green juices pack two servings of fruits and veggies into each bottle, so they're a healthy way to sneak in nutrients if you've been slacking on salads lately. But keep in mind that juicing does strip produce of dietary fibre, which is found in the pulp and skin of produce and aids in digestion, regulates blood sugar levels, and keeps you feeling full longer. So whole foods are still the optimal way to ensure you're getting plenty of fibre in your diet.

What Is Green Juice?

Plenty of greens are necessary for good health, and a daily green juice is simply the best ways of ensuring that get plenty of greens. With a green juice you can get the nutritional value of far more greens than you could comfortably eat. Green juice is a mixture of green vegetables (and often other nutrients) mixed together, usually using a juicer .The purpose is to separate the juice from the pulp and then drink the juice, gaining from all the nutrients therein.
All you need is some good quality greens and get your juice ready.

Why Green Juice?

When you start Green Juicing, you see the advantages yourself:
  • You can consume vast quantities of vegetables, far more than you’d be able to by eating. Most people prefer drinking juices than eating raw vegetables.
  • You can take advantage of all the goodness from vegetables you normally can’t stand to eat
  • The nutrients enter your body more quickly, being easier to digest in liquid form
  • The immune system receives regular super-boosts
  • Hunger and cravings can be defeated by all the nutrients you’re feeding your body

As a general rule, stick to green juices made mostly with leafy greens, which are much lower in sugar than fruit-based options. Take a good look at the nutrition stats: Some bottles are considered two servings, so keep that in mind when checking calories and sugar content. Also think about the purpose of your juice—is it part of a meal or just a snack? If I'm having a green juice for a snack, I like to enjoy half a bottle with a handful of nuts for some added fibre and protein.

A multiple-day, juice-only detox diet doesn't seem necessary for our bodies, which naturally detox through the liver, kidney, and GI tract. There's no scientific evidence to suggest that our bodies need help getting rid of waste products, and I wouldn't recommend  cleanse in place of a normal diet.
